BMW integrates blockchain into its operations

Automotive concern BMW is creating a blockchain loyalty program for its customers in Thailand. German car manufacturer BMW plans to integrate blockchain technology into its operations and create a blockchain loyalty program for customers in Thailand.

According to Bjorn Antonson, CEO of BMW Leasing in Thailand, the concern is working with the CoinWeb team and expects positive results from introducing DLT into its ecosystem. Moving from manual paperwork to blockchain records will help the company improve its customer experience.

The concern entered into cooperation with the CoinWeb company, which specializes in the development of blockchain infrastructure. BMW attracted the company as a provider of decentralized architecture and BNB network for transaction settlement.

It is planned to integrate the blockchain in 2 stages. The pre-decentralized technology will be incorporated into BMW’s day-to-day operations to automate labor-intensive manual processes, as well as streamline the company’s car finance services.

At the second stage of the project, an exclusive Web3 application for the BMW customer loyalty program will be developed. The program will use a blockchain-based rewards scheme to incentivize customers. The level and status of the client in the ecosystem will be determined by the loyalty rewards that he will receive through various actions.

In addition, owners will be given the right to use their rewards to buy goods and services from the automaker and the ecosystem in the short term. The BNB network will be used to settle transactions.

In addition to BMW, other automotive companies are also interested in blockchain technology. In particular, Fiat has already opened its Microsoft Cloud-based virtual store called the Fiat Metaverse Store, and Mercedes-Benz Group AG has filed several trademark applications for the Metaverse and NFT.

In turn, Nvidia invites automakers to connect to its own Omniverse platform. It will be possible to unify 3D design and modeling pipelines for cars, and create digital twins of objects.
