TRISHES stays true to her art with The Id

The best art doesn’t just entertain; it educates or, at the very least, makes you think.

Trish Hosein aka TRISHES, has been hitting on all those marks for a while now, and she continues to do so on her first full-length album, The Id, which follows up the equally compelling EP, Ego.

That doesn’t mean this whole thing is easy. In fact, in an age where asking listeners to go beyond the surface is often a bridge too far, Hosein admits that trying to reach those folks may be the most difficult part of the process.

“I wish I could say I enjoy it, but it’s difficult,” she said. “I get really discouraged, even with my social media, because I’ll post a selfie and it will get all of this engagement, and then I’ll post something that is important, or a piece of art that reflects something really important, and it will get half as much. My purpose is to create art, but I think my purpose is also to help people understand this subconscious self and how this subconscious self perpetuates systems that harm all of us.

Clearly, Hosein is in this for the long haul, and there is the satisfaction that she’s sticking to her guns in a music world that is increasingly difficult to crack. And frankly, while there are plenty of layers to her music, it remains accessible to those who just want to enjoy the hooks. And that’s fine with…
