If healthier food is visible when you open the fridge doors, you are much more likely to grab it.”

“Eggs are one of the first things I reach for when I need to make a quick meal,” Burak says.

No matter what time of day it is, eggs can be used to easily prepare healthy meals ranging from omelets to egg muffins. Consider hard boiling your eggs and storing them in the fridge for a nutritious snack you can grab and eat whenever you want.

Eggs are a fantastic choice to help you lose weight, and research backs this up. According to a 2014 study, people who ate eggs for breakfast instead of steamed bread felt more full and had a lower body weight. More research shows that eating eggs instead of cereal can increase satiety and decrease hunger.

Burak continues, “Always keep a few veggie options in the produce drawer to throw into those scrambled eggs or to make as side dishes, as part of salads, or use in tons of other ways to create volume and add nutrients to your diet.”

There is a lot of research out there that investigates the positive relationship between vegetable consumption and weight loss. Previous studies, for example, show that increasing vegetable intake can lead to weight loss and a lower risk of becoming obese, according to research published in Nutrients.

When you’re craving something sweet, reach for in-season fruits instead of pantry items like chocolate chip cookies and sugar-laden candies.

According to a study published in PLOS Medicine, adding fruit to your diet can help you lose weight. Over a four-year period, the study discovered that increasing fruit consumption was associated with weight loss. Apples, berries, and pears were the fruits that provided the most benefits.

“A good-quality salad dressing for drizzling on vegetables or to enhance the flavor of any dish is the way to go,” says Burak. Many pre-made salad dressings are high in calories and fat, so choose a high-quality one or make your own salad topper! For example, you can keep some lemons in the fridge to add a bit of zesty flavor to your greens.

Burak, for one, enjoys stocking up on tasty high-protein snacks that are easy to transport. “Yogurt and cottage cheese, as well as hummus and guacamole packs to dip those veggies into and use as a spread on sandwiches,” she says. Consider purchasing individual cheese sticks and bars as well. Enjoy them with your fruit for a tasty snack that will keep you full.
